Time is drawing near for the annual land tax sale, which will be held on Tuesday, May 2. While the land tax sale begins at 10:00 a.m. in the County Commission meeting room of the Cullman County Courthouse, all bidders must check in at the Revenue Commission office prior to the sale to register and to obtain a bid number. The list of properties to be sold in the land tax sale may be purchased for $5.00 on the day of the sale at the Revenue Commission office, located in room 102. Following is the 2016 schedule of important dates to remember.
Important 2017 dates to know include:
- January 1 – unpaid taxes become delinquent, and penalties of 1% interest (of taxes due), plus a $5.00 late (collector) fee are applied.
- January 31 – last day on which checks may be used to pay property taxes. All payments must be made via certified funds, cash, or debit or credit card.
- February 1 – delinquent taxes are subject to a 2% interest penalty, plus a $5.00 late (collector) fee.
- February 17 – delinquent taxes are subject to a 2% interest penalty, plus a $10.00 late (collector) fee, $5.00 Probate fee, and $10.00 mailing fee.
- March 1 – delinquent taxes are subject to a 3% interest penalty, plus a $10.00 late (collector) fee, $5.00 Probate fee, and $10.00 mailing fee.
- March 17 – delinquent taxes are subject to a 3% interest penalty, plus a $10.00 late (collector) fee, $10.00 Probate fee, and $10.00 mailing fee, plus advertising fees for publication in the local newspaper at $0.40 per word.
- April 1 – delinquent taxes are subject to a 4% interest penalty, plus a $10.00 late (collector) fee, $10.00 Probate fee, and $10.00 mailing fee, plus advertising fees for publication in the local newspaper at $0.40 per word.
- May 1 – delinquent taxes are subject to a 5% interest penalty, plus a $10.00 late (collector) fee, $10.00 Probate fee, and $10.00 mailing fee, plus advertising fees for publication in the local newspaper at $0.40 per word.
- May 2 – delinquent taxes are subject to a 5% interest penalty, plus a $15.00 late (collector) fee, $10.00 Probate fee, and $10.00 mailing fee, plus advertising fees for publication in the local newspaper at $0.40 per word.
