In response to the Coronavirus situation: online tag renewals are fee-free

Beginning March 16, 2020, in response to area states of emergency for local, state, and federal government offices, any customer who renews his or her car tag online will be charged no card, transaction, or mail fees. Normally all card charges (whether credit card or debit) are also charged the processing fee of 2.5%, plus a $0.30 transaction fee by the credit card processing company. The credit card company will waive these fees through the duration of coronavirus-related closings in our area. The Revenue Commissioner will also waive mail fees for online renewals, and the courthouse-based staff will mail out receipts and renewal decals per the normal schedule. Tag renewals may also be made via mail as normal.

Fees for credit or debit charges for delinquent land tax payments will not be waived as taxes were due October 1, 2019 and payable through December 31, 2019 with no late fees and penalties. Property taxes may be paid online or via mail with certified payments (cashier’s checks or money orders).
