**UPDATE: Corrected tag notices were mailed on June 7, 2016**
On the June 3, 2016 motor vehicle tag courtesy notices, there is a decimal error on the printed amount due. For example, if your taxes are $95.00, your courtesy tax notice will instead read $0.95.
Taxes are set by the state of Alabama, and courtesy reminders are sent to motor vehicle owners annually to ensure they remember to pay their annual taxes. Unlike a retail establishment that might honor a printed error, however, the revenue office cannot override the taxes due despite what is printed on the courtesy notice.
We apologize for any confusion with regard to the courtesy notice tax amounts due.
