Did you know that June 12 is an historic day for the world, not just in 2018, but also in history? On this date in 1987, President Ronald Reagan made history by seeking greater peace and prosperity in Europe, imploring the Soviet leadership to engage in difficult steps to restore peace.
“There is one sign the Soviets can make that would be unmistakable, that would advance dramatically the cause of freedom and peace. Secretary General Gorbachev, if you seek peace–if you seek prosperity for the Soviet Union and Eastern Europe–if you seek liberalization: come here, to this gate. Mr. Gorbachev, open this gate. Mr. Gorbachev, tear down this wall.” ~~Ronald Reagan
Two years later, the Berlin Wall was dismantled, and Germany united into a single country again.
