Property owners turning 65 years old before October 1, 2021 may visit a Revenue Commission office to update their homestead exemptions for the 2022 collection year. Homestead exemptions are discounts on your property taxes for your PRIMARY RESIDENCE ONLY. (Second homes and non-owner occupied homes do not qualify for this over-age 65 exemption.)
To sign for an over-age 65 exemption for the first time for the 2022 tax year, owners will need to bring their 2020 federal and state income tax returns to the Revenue Commission office by December 31,2021.
