Buyer beware: know what you’re buying in tax lien transfers and property purchases

This office has become aware of tax lien purchasers seeking to sell their tax lien interests as if they own the associated real property. Potential buyers should remain aware that Cullman County 2018 and 2019 tax liens were sold in tax lien auctions for those respective years. This does not give tax lien purchasers rights to the properties themselves, and this is thoroughly explained to all tax lien purchasers. Only the Alabama Department of Revenue and Cullman County’s respective tax lien values are auctioned through this office as of 2018.
