Mr. Carnes, thank you for reaching out about the driver’s license office problem. While this isn’t the revenue office, I’m happy to forward your comments to them and to provide any information I’ve been able to find for you.

Were you in the driver’s license office downstairs? If so, that’s an Alabama Department of Public Safety office. It’s a state office that happens to be in the county courthouse, so people can come from any county to test for their licenses here. I know that creates a long line each day, and I understand that can be frustrating. The staff there work to manage the customer flow as quickly as possible. If that’s the area you are referencing, you may contact them at (343) 517-2763.

If you were in the driver’s license office across from the revenue department, that’s the probate judge’s office. That office number is (256) 775-4665. I know the whole staff tries to make every transaction as fast and friendly as possible, and some days are more hectic than others. They care about each customer!

I hope this information is helpful. If you have any revenue department-related questions, feel free to contact us via email at

      Best regards,
      Darla West
