Cullman Revenue Commissioner announces email notifications to fight land title fraud

One of 2023’s most unusual national news stories has been the theft of real property through fraudulent deed transfers. The Cullman Revenue Commissioner is helping property owners to remain aware of any deed changes through an opt-in email service. The goal is to detect fraud at the time of a property name change, so property owners may take appropriate action if needed.

Some deed changes are legitimate, like true sales or when owners add or delete family members or even transfer their properties to trusts. Others are not legitimate and are theft.

To subscribe, owners will visit the revenue commissioner website and enter their email addresses to complete the opt-in process (for their respective property name or property PIN).
