Cullman Revenue Commissioner announces Thanksgiving week hours

In celebration of Thankgsiving 2022, the Cullman Revenue Commission office will be closed on Thursday and Friday, November 24-25.

While President George Washington originally proclaimed a day of Thanksgiving in America in 1789, it was 74 years later when President Abraham Lincoln proclaimed the last Thursday in November to be an annual, national day of observance to give thanksgiving to “our beneficient Father who dwelleth in the Heavens.” He also called on the American people to pray for healing of “the wounds of the nation,” as the War Between the States raged on. Ultimately via an act of Congress and President Franklin D. Roosevelt, a permanent observance date of the fourth Thursday was established.
