The Cullman Revenue Commissioner announced this week an important change in satellite location operations. Effective March 1, 2023, cash will no longer be accepted for revenue transactions at the offices in Baileyton, Dodge City, and Hanceville. Satellite location customers may use checks, certified funds (such as a cashier’s check or money order), and credit or debit cards for their Revenue Commission transactions.
The Cullman County Courthouse location will continue to accept cash, checks, certified funds, or cards for all revenue transactions, including motor vehicle and manufactured home titles and tags, as well as ad valorem property tax payments. Please note: checks for delinquent taxes are not accepted after February 28 of any year.
This change comes following careful analysis of both costs and safety requirements for Revenue Commission staff and customers at the satellite locations. “After analyzing cash statistics and completing safety reviews following recent incidents with visitors at these locations, the decision was made to protect the guests and staff by making this change,” noted Cullman Revenue Commissioner, Barry Willingham. “While this change may initially be inconvenient for some guests, it is ultimately better for taxpayers and staff to implement this safety change, and we appreciate the public’s understanding of such.”
UPDATE: In conjunction with this change, all satellite offices will close at 4:00 p.m. each day to process banking transactions as required by the operation of the Revenue Commission office. As with the cashless satellite office change, this facilitates proper staff safety and greater efficiency in processing customer transactions through local financial institutions. The courthouse location will remain open to the public until 4:30 p.m. to serve in-person property and land customers.
