Revenue Commissioner warns of collection telephone scam

SCAM alert: several counties are reporting their past-due taxpayers are being scammed by calls from people claiming to be tax collectors or revenue commissioner staff.

While Cullman County Revenue staff members are making calls regarding past-due property taxes as courtesy reminders, our staff will not ask for bank routing numbers. Cullman County staff will also not accept credit card payments over the phone to ensure delinquent taxpayers know to avoid giving privileged information over a telephone call.

Payments may be made in person, online via the Cullman Revenue Commissioner website, or by mail (certified funds, no checks).
